Resources for Flutists, Flute Teachers and Recording Musicians
Here are some excellent flute resources that David has created for his flute students and makes freely available to everyone. These helpful music education resources will be of special interest to all flutists, as well as instrumental teachers, band instructors, music educators and recording engineers who may have the good fortune to be recording flutists.
• Flute Duet Podcast – As an audio, music education resource for flutists and flute teachers, David has recorded, and is podcasting, some of the duets from the book Selected Duets for Flute. This excellent flute duet book is familiar to flutists of all ages.
All of these classical flute duets are presented in two versions, one with both flute parts and one with the flute two only part to be used as a flute play along. • Recording the Flute – Published in Recording Magazine, this comprehensive article discusses recording the flute in a home recording studio.
Included in this flute recording article are sound clips demonstrating the effect of using different types of microphones, and different microphone positions, when recording the flute. This is a wonderful resource for all flutists as well as an important guide for recording engineers and musicians with home recording studios who may have the opportunity to record a flutist.
